On Thursday, September 25th During pioneer time, West High hosted the Cancer walk which fundraises money for cancer patients by having students pay $1 to walk on the track here at West High and had a representative from the Wichita, Kansas Cancer foundation who was Allison Williams to come and see the walk.
A common question that is asked is why the cancer walk important?
Williams Said, “The cancer walk is important because it takes all of us to help patients battling cancer at the Wichita Kansas foundation”.
Since the cancer walk helps patients battling cancer it also helps in another way.
Williams stated, “We provide financial assistance for cancer patients in Kansas by paying their health insurance premiums they assure no Kansan has to choose between fighting for their lives and choosing to provide for their family”.
Every year West has a goal to fundraise a certain amount of money to give to cancer patients, but that goal can be high or low
Williams mentioned, “It depends every year on how much they raise from cancer walk, last year someone sponsored it and donated $1,000”.
This year we had went above our goal of $300 with $500 which will be going to the Wichita, Kansas Cancer foundation to help cancer patients beat cancer.
