The first ever Midday Madness, hosted by Austin McBeth, Alison Stucky and both the men and women’s basketball teams, was held in the main gym during ninth hour on December 3.
“When I saw Westlemania, I was like, that was really dope and then my thought was, we should try and do something that kind of like midnight madness to get people hype for basketball” Mcbeth said.
Midday Madness began with a three-point shooting contest between Treg Hardeman from the men’s team, and Kennedy Khamvongsa from the women’s team. Hardeman won the contest with a final score of 9-5.
The three-point shooting contest was followed by a dunk contest between several players from the men’s team. Abdallah Dumea won the dunking contest.
The final part of the event was a contest where a participant from the audience had 45 seconds to make a series of shots, starting with a layup and ending with a half-court shot. Romello Thomas took on the challenge and finished short of the half-court shot, sinking a three at the buzzer to win a large pizza, a T-shirt and an Activates pass.
